During the colder winter months in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands, humpback whales migrate south to warmer waters. From mid December to mid April, we have the privilege to have the opportunity to watch these giants of the seas in the area of Baja California Sur and Los Cabos, where they breed, and nurse their young. Humpbacks females and mothers with newborn calves spend the majority of their time in protected areas and warmer waters. This is an amazing experience you should not miss when coming to Cabo during this time of the year. Different types of whale watching tours are offered on the bay of San Lucas, as well as all day tours visiting the sanctuaries where the whale calves can come so close to the boats, that sometimes you can even touch them!!
